Built layer by layer

A new roof is only as good as what’s beneath it.

The tiles are the part you see. The membrane, the battens, the lead and the ventilation are the parts that decide whether it lasts. We build every layer properly — from the rafters up — so your new roof weathers decades of British storms, not just the first winter.

  • Free roof survey with honest repair-vs-replace advice
  • Fixed-price quote — materials, leadwork, scaffolding included
  • Breathable membrane, tanalised battens and code-4 lead as standard
  • 10-year workmanship warranty on every new roof

How we build it

Every layer, done properly.

From the first rafter to the last ridge tile, one crew owns the whole roof — so no detail falls between contractors.

01

Roof Survey & Preparation

We strip, measure and inspect the existing structure — rafters, wall plates and chimney stacks — and replace any rotten or wormed timber before a single tile goes back up.

02

Breathable Membrane & Underlay

A vapour-permeable membrane is laid and counter-battened across the rafters, giving your roof a secondary weather barrier that breathes — driving rain stays out, condensation escapes.

03

Timber Battens & Laths

Tanalised roofing battens are gauged to the exact tile profile and nailed to a true line — the precision grid every slate and tile hangs from for the life of the roof.

04

Tiles, Slate & Finishes

Natural Welsh slate, concrete interlocking tiles, clay rosemary or pantiles — fixed with the right nails and hooks, laid to a true bond and matched to your home’s character.

05

Leadwork, Valleys & Flashings

Code-4 and code-5 lead dressed around chimneys, abutments and valleys, with soakers and aprons that move water cleanly away — the detail that decides whether a roof lasts decades.

06

Dry Ridge, Eaves & Ventilation

Dry-ridge and dry-verge systems, eaves ventilation and insulation continuity — a weathertight, ventilated roof that meets today’s Building Regulations and stays sound.

Beneath the tiles

The layers you never see.

A breathable membrane and a true grid of tanalised battens are what make a roof last. Here’s what goes on before a single tile is fixed.
